Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) is the implementing agency for the development of a Smart City, Konza Techno City (KTC), a flagship project under the Kenya Vision 2030. The Government plans that Konza Techno City grows into a sustainable, worldclass technology hub with a vibrant mix of businesses, workers, residents and urban amenities. It is anticipated that the project will create 16,675 jobs in the medium term and over 200,000 on completion thereby positioning Kenya as a Technology hub.

Engineering, Procurement, Construction And Finance For Infrastructure Development For Phase 1 Konza Techno City (Kenya).

The project is 70 km far from Nairobi.

Phase 1 insists on a project area of 410 acres (approx. 170 hectares) and involves the development of the first part of a global project to create a city with more than 200,000 inhabitants on an area of 5,000 acres (2,000 hectares).

The Project includes design review, design, procurement, construction and financing for the

following infrastructure projects:

  • Development of approximately 40 km of landscaped streets (to paved standards) complete with drainage facilities and subsurface utilities, i.e. water distribution, sewage collection and treatment
  • Parks and open spaces
  • Water treatment plant and storage reservoir with associated infrastructure
  • Wastewater Reclamation Facility and associated infrastructure
  • Solid Waste Sorting Facility (2,500 sqmt)
  • Police and Fire Station (4,400 sqmt)
  • Entrance and Security Feature
  • Complete electrical system including approximately 40Km of electric power lines, substations, transformers and other appurtenances (electrical conduits and pull boxes are included in the scope of Lot 1)
  • Complete ICT system including 40Km of fiber optic cables

This project features a high-level of innovation and hi-tech solutions, to name a few:

  • Multi-purpose utilities tunnel
  • Pneumatic Waste Collecting Facility
  • Wastewater Reuse System

The environmental standards are extremely high: this project will be LEED and ENVISION certified.
